The study of science is the development of ideas from experimental observations. It is not simply learning a list of facts but rather a way of thinking. A primary goal for the student is to learn methods of problem solving and to develop the ability to apply them to any problem. This book attempts to teach thinking as well as facts and theories. It presents organic chemistry by a mechanistic approach. In an effort to facilitate orderly learning, the material in this book is organized in such a way that the students are first introduced to fundamental concepts of organic chemistry and then the method of applying those concepts in solving relevant problems.
