Following are some of the salient features of the book : (1) It represents in a simple language and lucid style the fundamental principles of Mechanics and Wave Motion in a manner such that the student may feel no difficulty in following the subject. (2) Every topic is profusely illustrated with explanatory diagrams. (3) At first the material has been explained from a physical point of view. Then it is followed by a fairly rigorous mathematical analysis in which mathematical steps are complete without any jumping.. (4) Numerous problems have been carried out so that the reader can see how the theory is applied to specific problems. (5) A variety of questions and problems, taken from recent examination papers, have been included at the end of each chapter for making the students familiar with the nature of questions to be asked at the their examinations. (6) The point of view of students has constantly been kept in mind while preparing the present text.
