Following are some of the salient features of the book : (i) It represents in a simple language and lucid style the fundamental principles of Kinetic Theory and Thermodynamics in a manner such that the student may feel no difficulty in following them. (ii) Each chapter is self contained and written in a comprehensive style. (iii) Every topic is profusely illustrated with explanatory and easy to reproduce diagrams. (iv) The mathematical derivations are clear and complete without any jumping and have been made simple, logical and easily understandable. (v) Numerous solved problems of varying degrees of difficulty have been sprinkled throughout the text, so that the reader can see how the theory is applied to specific problems. (vi) A variety of questions and problems, taken from recent examination papers of various universities, have been included at the end of each chapter for making the student familiar with the nature of questions to be asked in their examinations. These have been divided as Short Answer Questions, Long Answer Questions, Numerical Problems and Objective Questions as required in the new pattern.
