SRIMAD BHAGWAD GITA AS I UNDERSTOOD

Shrimad Bhagwad Gita is basically the philosophy of selfless action performed without any attachment to its fruit and without the notion of doer (I-ness) (nishkam-karma or karma-yoga). It successfully formulates the theories of three basic Yogas: Jnana Yoga for a person of enquiry and rational temperament, Bhakti Yoga for the person of emotional temperament and Karma Yoga for a person of action. It also harmonises most wonderfully the philosophies of action (karma), devotion (bhakti) and knowledge (jnana). The central teaching of Gita is the attainment of by self- perfection and the liberation from the cycle of rebirths and subsequent deaths. Many of its verses are like the well tested formulae (like those of mathematics) which can be understood properly only by practising them ( by realizing through self-experience) and it can be done only through yogic activities and deep meditation. It has the message of solace, peace, freedom, salvation, scientific attitude, and perfection for all human beings irrespective of their cult, sect, creed, age or country.
